1. Introduction
Welcome to Akụkọ (a service operated by Xeux Labs). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you register for, access, or use our morning briefing application.
By accessing or using Akụkọ, you consent to the collection, storage, and processing practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with any terms, please do not use our services.
2. Information We Collect
To provide you with high-quality, personalized editorial digests, we collect the following categories of information:
Account & Identity Information
When you log in via Google OAuth, we receive your email address, full name, and avatar URL. We use this to authenticate your identity and set up your personal account.
Preferences & Configurations
We store your selected feed topics, tone settings, summary styles, delivery preferences (such as email delivery schedules), and user-customized briefing configurations.
Usage Data
We collect technical indicators such as browser type, operating system, IP address, and interaction data (e.g., briefing opening rates or clicks) to troubleshoot bugs and measure application performance.
3. How We Use Information
We process your personal information only for the following legitimate business purposes:
- Digest Generation: Fetching, parsing, and summarizing articles relevant to your selected interest areas.
- Communication: Delivering your daily briefings and newsletters directly to your verified inbox.
- Personalization: Adapting the AI tone (e.g., standard, professional, conversational) to align with your profile configuration.
- Service Security: Guarding against unauthorized access, malicious actions, or spam vectors.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share your data only with specific sub-processors necessary to run the application:
- AI Service Providers: We send synthesized topics and content summaries to secure LLM endpoints (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to produce your digests. Your personal identity details (like your name or email) are never sent to these LLMs, and these providers do not retain your data for model training.
- Email Services: We use transactional email services to route daily briefings to your inbox.
- Compliance and Law: We may disclose information if required to comply with a valid legal mandate, subpoena, or government regulation.
5. Security & Data Retention
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your credentials and data:
- Encryption: All network traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS / TLS protocols. Sensitive tokens and preferences are encrypted at rest.
- Session Security: We utilize secure HTTP-only cookies and JSON Web Tokens (JWT) to safely maintain session data.
- Retention Scope: We retain your settings and generated briefing history for as long as you maintain an active account. If you choose to delete your account, we delete all profile data, preference settings, and briefing archives from our active systems within 30 days.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you have strong rights regarding your data under the GDPR, CCPA, and similar consumer protection frameworks:
- Access and Export: You can download or review your stored profile details at any time from your profile settings page.
- Correction: You can update your briefing preferences, email delivery state, and basic details dynamically.
- Deletion (Right to be Forgotten): You can completely terminate your account, which initiates immediate erasure of all your custom preferences and historical logs from our database.
7. Google API Disclosure
Akụkọ's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We do not use your Google credentials or OAuth details for any purpose other than authentication and logging in to your Akụkọ account. We never publish posts, edit documents, or access private files.
